Adult Pirate Costumes

Female pirate costumes are always a good pick for a fancy dress party or for Halloween. Pirate costumes are one of the most popular costumes themes for fancy dress. I’m not entirely sure why this is the case but I think they are a very flexible costume. You can be silly in a pirate outfit, you can look fairly realistic and for women, you can even look very sexy. And in some costumes you can look all three. Anyhow here are a selection of female pirate costumes to consider.

The rustic female pirate is a complete costume. It has many elements that a typical pirate from the Golden age of pirates might wear, with a few garments that a made for women. You could even imagine real life female pirates such as Mary Read, Grace O’Malley and Anne Bonny wearing parts of this costume. For instance the pirate hat and bandanna.

I guess they didn’t have time to cut hair in those days and the trend (for pirates anyhow) was to wear their hair long. The calf length boots with big cuff would come in handy to stop water getting on your feet. It seems the puffy white shirt is almost obligatory for pirates. I’m not sure if this is true in real life but maybe it was the style of the time.

Naturally the costume has been modified somewhat so that the wearer will also look attractive and appealing at a party. The shirt is shoulder less for example. And it is complemented by a corset or bustier that pulls in your waist and pushes out your bust. So it is a half and half costume. It looks fairly authentic but has enough about it to charm fellow party goers.

The second female pirate costume is the scandalous pirate costume. What can you say about this costume. Basically I’d say no words are needed, just look at the picture. It’s not really a pirate costume as such, although a few nautical elements have been added to it. Moreover, it’s intent is to wow and titillate people. If you  are game enough to wear such an outfit then you are sure to get plenty of attention. Be ready for a few jaws to drop when you walk into a room because that’s the likely affect this costume will have on people, especially all the Captain Jack Sparrows out there.
